Amiga Kickstart ROM Hacking 101: How to Get All 3 Versions in One RAR File

Hack and Run All 3 Amiga Kickstart ROMs from a Single RAR File

If you are a fan of the Amiga computer, you might have wondered how to run different versions of the Amiga operating system (AmigaOS) on your emulator. AmigaOS consists of two parts: the Workbench disks and the Kickstart ROM. The Kickstart ROM is the firmware of the Amiga that contains the core functionality of the system, such as the graphical user interface, disk access, memory management, etc. Different Amiga models use different versions of the Kickstart ROM, and some games and applications require specific versions to run properly.

HACK Amiga kick Rom all 3 - (1.3)(2.0)(3.1).rar

In this article, we will show you how to hack and run all 3 major versions of the Amiga Kickstart ROM (1.3, 2.0, 3.1) from a single RAR file. This way, you can switch between different AmigaOS versions without having to download and install multiple ROM files. You will need an Amiga emulator (such as WinUAE or FS-UAE), a RAR file containing all 3 Kickstart ROMs, and a tool to extract and rename them.

Step 1: Download the RAR File

The first step is to download the RAR file that contains all 3 Amiga Kickstart ROMs. You can find it online by searching for "HACK Amiga kick Rom all 3 - (1.3)(2.0)(3.1).rar". This file is a modified version of the original ROM files that have been transferred from real Amiga computers and use the extension *.ROM. The RAR file contains the following files:

  • Kick13.rom - This is the Kickstart ROM version 1.3, used by Amiga models A500, A1000, A2000, CDTV and A3000.

  • Kick20.rom - This is the Kickstart ROM version 2.0, used by Amiga models A3000 and A500+.

  • Kick31.rom - This is the Kickstart ROM version 3.1, used by Amiga models A1200, A4000, A4000T and CD32.

You can download the RAR file from any of these sources:

  • Amiga Kickstarts pack : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

  • Amiga Kickstart ROMs - History, Information and Downloads

  • Commodore Amiga Rom Set #1 for RetroArch - Archive.org

Step 2: Extract and Rename the ROM Files

The next step is to extract and rename the ROM files from the RAR file. You will need a tool that can handle RAR files, such as WinRAR or 7-Zip. After extracting the files, you will need to rename them according to the following convention:

  • Kick13.rom -> kick34005.A500

  • Kick20.rom -> kick40068.A1200

  • Kick31.rom -> kick40068.A4000

This way, your emulator will recognize them as valid Kickstart ROMs for different Amiga models.

Step 3: Configure Your Emulator

The final step is to configure your emulator to use the hacked ROM files. Depending on which emulator you are using, you will need to do one of the following:

  • If you are using WinUAE, go to Settings -> Paths -> System ROMs and select the folder where you extracted and renamed the ROM files. Then go to Settings -> Quickstart and choose your desired Amiga model from the dropdown menu.

  • If you are using FS-UAE, go to Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Paths -> Kickstarts and select the folder where you extracted and renamed the ROM files. Then go to Settings -> Configurations and choose your desired Amiga model from the list.

Now you are ready to run any Amiga game or application that requires a specific Kickstart ROM version. You can switch between different versions by changing your emulator settings or by using a tool like WHDLoad that allows you to run games directly from hard disk images.

Step 4: Enjoy Your Hacked ROMs

Congratulations! You have successfully hacked and run all 3 Amiga Kickstart ROMs from a single RAR file. Now you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the compatibility of the older versions and the features of the newer versions. You can also save some disk space and avoid c
